Wintry WhiteNovember 13, 2017
Highlight the beauty of the season with touches of crisp white. Wintry whites coupled with shimmery metallics offer a modern alternative to the classic red and green. It’s fresh, yet inviting and provides a festive spirit that lasts even after the holidays.
Nothing says the holidays like pine. Frosted garlands, wreaths, and trees give a snowy appearance as well as a beautiful white backdrop.
Silvery metallics complement the white and give the monotone palette some dimension. You can achieve this look by pairing white accents with candlesticks and votive candleholders in silvery finishes.
Wintry decor comes alive with the warmth of candles and twinkling string lights. The trick for a dynamic, welcoming look is to incorporate lights at different heights, from taper to votive, as well as little touches throughout. Fairy lights always offer a bit of magic and hanging lit decor in snowflake shapes and ornaments is an ode to the season.
Whether you’re entertaining friends and family or enjoying an intimate gathering, here is a delicious wintry cocktail to match.
- 2 ounces vanilla vodka
- 2 ounces white chocolate liqueur
- 1 ounce white creme de cacao
- 1 ounce half and half
- Lemon wedge
- Sanding sugar
- Coconut chips
Cut a slit into a lemon wedge and run it around the rim of the glass. Pour a thin layer of sanding sugar into a shallow dish and dip the rim of the glass to coat. Add the vodka, chocolate liqueur, creme de cacao, and half and half to a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake. Strain into the rimmed glass, sprinkle with coconut chips for garnish, and serve.
