The weight of the medium lantern (set of two) is about 2.5 lbs for each lantern, while the large lantern (single) is about 4.5 lbs.

Can these be switched off when I don’t want the lights on?

Yes, there is an On/Off switch at the base of the lantern, you can turn them off when you don't want to use them.

The lantern is decorative so we don't measure it in lumens sorry. It's bright enough to see from a distance but you wouldn't want to try to read by it.

Can rain or snow get inside of lantern? If so will it drain out the bottom?

It would be difficult for snow to get in but the lantern isn't 100% waterproof. We built these outdoor lights with drain holes in the base to take care of any incidental moisture that gets inside the glass.

My lantern turns off when I put my porch light on how can I get it to stay on?

These lanterns have light sensors that tell them when to charge and when to produce light. There isn't a great way to have a solar light ON when there is other light shining on it. You can cover the solar panel but I think a better solution might be to use battery-powered lanterns instead of solar-powered.

Is the battery already installed?

The batteries are already installed in the lantern when they arrived.

I need very heavy lanterns that will sit on a pillar that high winds won't blow over.

This lantern is made of light-weight durable metal. I don't think this would be a good choice unless it was bolted to the post. In fact, I'm not sure I'd recommend any lantern to sit on top of a pole in high winds without the lantern being somehow attached to the pole itself.

How long does the battery last?

Depending on use a rechargeable solar battery should last about 1-2 years. If you mean how long with your lantern stay lit at night- it depends on how much sun you've got through the day. A full day of sun will give you about 6-8 hours of lightless time if the day has been cloudy.

What's the best way to clean this if the inside of the glass gets dirty after a while?

Just pop open the door and use a damp cloth to wipe the glass or some Windex if you want to get fancy.

Do these have a faux gas flame effect or just a candlelight flicker?

It gives off a candlelight flicker creating hours of effortless ambiance.

Can the doors open? Are they magnetic?

The doors of this solar lantern can open but they are not magnetic. They close with a latch.

This is my second order of these lanterns. I was so impressed with the quality of the first set I ordered. The lanterns look exactly as pictured. The deep, rich red and lighting gave my back porch just the pop of color and ambiance I was trying to capture. I love these and am gifting a pair to a friend.
