This lantern is made of iron which is then powder-coated in order to withstand the elements and protect it from rust.

The lantern will go on at dusk and stay lit for up to 8 hours with a full charge. Note: operating conditions like cloudy days can affect performance.

Where are the batteries located? Can I change them?
The batteries in the lantern are accessible from the bottom. The batteries are rechargeable and depending on operating conditions you probably won't need to replace them for around a year or more.
