Create a Lovely Tribute with a Lantern

We miss our loved ones so very much and sometimes we want to honor and remember them, but how?  Here is a fantastic project that will bring back memories, and light up your life at the same time.  The best part about this terrific project is that it is so easy to make and it has a big and lasting impact.

You will need the following supplies:

• Rory Lantern or Hazel Lantern

• Digital Photos

• Vellum Paper

• Scissors

To create this fantastic memorial project start by measuring your lantern glass width and height so that you’ll know what size images you’ll need for the next step.

Find 3-4 pictures of your loved one(s) that you would like to create this lovely memorial for.  If applicable print out the photo in the correct size, or drop on a Word Doc and resize the image to the width and height you need.  Print the images on velum paper.  Velum paper is a translucent paper that will allow the glow of the candle inside to shine through and make the images glow.  Another amazing idea is to find a beautiful memorial saying online and print that on velum paper as well.

Once you have the images printed, cut each one out.

For the Rory lantern, open the door and place the images inside behind the clips so that the image is held in place.  Repeat this to all 4 sides, and close the lantern back up.

For the Hazel lantern, unscrew the bottom and remove it from the lantern. Slide the pictures into each section of the glass so that there is one photo or saying behind the glass of each side of the lantern.  Place the bottom back in and screw back together.

Other options to secure the images onto the glass on the inside of the lantern include:  glue dots, hot glue, double stick tape, etc.

Once your images are all in place, set you lantern in a place of your choice.  Decide what time you want your candle to illuminate inside your lantern.  You can either manually turn the lantern on and off each time, or you can set the timer.  To set the timer (one of my favorite features) decide what time you want your candle to illuminate inside your lantern.  Turn the timer on at that time.  The lantern will run for approximately 6 hours and automatically turn off.  The next day at that same time the lantern will turn back on, and it will do this until you either turn the lantern to the off position or the batteries need to be replaced.

Some other amazing lanterns that could be used for this project include:

This is an amazing tribute to our loved ones, and the glow in the evenings is magical.
