Lights.com—Skylight For The Home
I can think of a good half dozen reasons right off the top of my head why a skylight for the home is an excellent idea. The first reason is just the pure unadulterated joy that comes from natural light first thing in the morning. Since I installed my skylight, I look forward to that morning paper and cup of coffee with renewed vigor. I go to the living room, open the skylight and breathe in the fresh morning air--there's nothing like it.
Everyone Loves a Skylight for the Home
Residential skylights were once thought to be a luxury only enjoyed by the rich. Today that's no longer the case. I'm living proof that any middle-class guy with a talent for home improvement can enjoy the benefits of a skylight for the home. In fact, with energy rates increasing at an alarming rate across the country, middle-class homeowners are exactly the demographic that should be enjoying the benefits of the skylight.
Skylights will not only save energy used by lamps and other light sources, but it will regulate the temperature of your home as well. Depending on how high-tech you want to go, a skylight for the home can be the cornerstone of your home's thermostat. When your home is naturally at the optimum temperature, the skylight will trigger the thermostat. This is a system that is 40 percent more energy efficient than most building codes even require.
With tremendous stress placed on our environment, I'm a firm believer in mankind going beyond his expected contribution to turn it around. If I can make a difference in the overall health of the environment by installing a skylight for the home, I'm going to do it. I also believe in the healing power of light and clean air. The skylight has proven to me that when we are motivated by goodness, goodness comes back to us.
