Today, if you want to make your car glow you would get a neon car light kit. However, car manufacturers are taking a closer look at neon for headlights and taillights. Today, there are a variety of new lighting systems that are seen on cars and offer higher quality light. Neon appears to be the way to go simply because neon lights up faster than traditional lights.
Neon Car Lights--Better than LED?
Neon lights compete with LED lights and offer another alternative for both rear signal lighting and front-of-vehicle applications. Like HID, neon uses gas that does not have a filament. This, of course, means a longer lifetime and a lighting system that will not be affected by harsh temperatures, shock or vibration. Recently, there has been an interest among car designers in neon lighting, and perhaps we may start seeing more new cars with such lighting packaging.
Ever since neon car lights made their "underground effect" debut, they have been making some waves when it comes to any and all lighting for automobiles. Neon is stylish and has longer life advantages. While LEDs offer the same long lifetime that neon does, they do not appear to have the same affect on people in terms of style.
Neon comes in tubes that are bendable, which allows for more design flexibility. Moreover, it has a faster rise-time than traditional lighting. Neon tail lights illuminate 200 milliseconds faster than incandescent lights, providing an extra stopping distance of 24 feet to those driving at 65 mph. Is it better than LED? They are just two comparable means of automotive lighting systems.
